The ParksBase defines a nature preserve as an area owned by a nonprofit organization that is off-limits to development. To be listed on The ParksBase, a nature preserve must be open to the public (with or without a fee). Environmental education centers that do not fit into any of the other parks categories are listed within Nature Preserves.
