Russell Cave National Monument

cave through trees

Russell Cave National Monument in Alabama preserves a cave where Native American artifacts have been found from 10,000 years ago. It seems they used the cave intermittently, first in passing, then in more permanent settlement, but they never stayed very long.

The small cave can be observed from a walkway in the woods, and there is a hiking trail through the forest. The park is pretty small, but interesting nonetheless.
